Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about wedding insurance in Utah.

Wedding insurance typically costs between $100 and $600 depending on your coverage level, guest count, and whether you include cancellation and liquor liability. Basic liability-only policies start around $100-150. Comprehensive packages with cancellation, liability, and liquor coverage range from $200-600. For a wedding budget of $15,000-40,000+, it's a very small cost for significant protection.

Buy wedding insurance as soon as you start making deposits and signing vendor contracts. Cancellation coverage only protects expenses incurred after the policy purchase date. The earlier you buy, the more of your investment is protected. We recommend purchasing within a few weeks of booking your venue.

Standard wedding cancellation insurance does not cover a change of heart by either partner. It covers cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances beyond your control — severe weather, sudden illness, venue closure, military deployment, vendor bankruptcy, etc. Some specialty policies may offer "change of heart" coverage at additional cost, but these are less common.

No. Your venue's insurance covers their building and their own liability. It does not cover your event-specific risks. If a guest is injured at your wedding, you as the host could be held liable. Most Utah venues require you to carry your own event liability insurance and name the venue as an additional insured on your policy.

If alcohol will be served at your wedding reception, liquor liability coverage is strongly recommended and often required by venues and caterers in Utah. As the event host, you can be held responsible for alcohol-related incidents. This coverage protects you from claims arising from injuries or property damage involving intoxicated guests.

Yes. We can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) that names your venue as an additional insured. This is a standard requirement from most wedding venues in Utah. We typically issue COIs quickly so you can meet venue deadlines.

We cover weddings throughout Utah — from Park City mountain venues to Southern Utah desert ceremonies to Salt Lake City ballrooms. Outdoor and destination weddings within Utah are eligible for coverage, including weather insurance which is especially valuable for outdoor celebrations in Utah's variable climate.

Common exclusions include: change of heart by either partner, pre-existing conditions known at the time of purchase, events already in progress, intentional acts, illegal activities, communicable diseases (varies by policy), and war/terrorism (may be available as an add-on). Always read your policy carefully and ask us to explain any exclusions.
